About Saranga Asith (Sara)

Senior Support Worker in Psychiatric Healthcare, United Kingdom

A calm, compassionate approach to supporting people through dignity, empathy, and respect.

My name is Saranga Asith, though many people know me as Sara. I am originally from Sri Lanka and currently work in the United Kingdom as a Senior Support Worker within psychiatric healthcare.

Before entering the healthcare field, I worked in the IT and design industry. Over time, I discovered a deeper passion for supporting and caring for others, which led me toward a more meaningful and person-centred career path.

I believe compassion, empathy, patience, and kindness are some of the most important qualities in life and care work. These values guide the way I support individuals every day, helping create a safe, respectful, and understanding environment for those in need.

My personal beliefs have taught me the importance of balance, mindfulness, and treating others with dignity and respect. I try to approach both life and care with calmness, understanding, and gratitude.

I believe compassion, empathy, patience, and kindness are the most important qualities in life and care work.

One personal philosophy that continues to guide me...

“Stay in the Middle”

To me, this means remaining balanced during both positive and difficult moments in life.

Gain & Loss
Praise & Blame
Appreciation & Criticism
Comfort & Pain

Finding balance is not always easy, but with patience and practice, we can learn to face life with greater peace and resilience.
